Copper Alchemy Landscape Paintings

Using copper in art is a powerful way to remind visitors and local residents of Arizona, that our state is famously known as the "Copper State" and copper mining has been a significant part of its history and economy.

Inspired by that I created this art. Using sheets of heavy high grade copper, I gave them a colorful patina by using multiple products that had an acid base, and painted, soaked and fumed to unfold the design you see. No two pieces are alike and each one has its own distinct character. Some pieces take several days - several weeks to process and apply finish.
