Experience an art lesson in the heart of Sedona. Taking a guided art class can be so healing, and open possibilities for you to start your own painting practice at home. Great for days the weather is not as perfect as you want, or when you want a more creative, meditative experience while in Sedona. All levels invited. Painting Classes

The new student can enjoy learning many techniques and tips, building confidence to pursue a new hobby. The novice and experienced artist can refine and perfect their craft while exploring new techniques in a gorgeous setting in Sedona. It is most likely the energetic feel here, the stunning beauty all around and the clear mountain air that continues to inspire me to paint.


Mandala Mindfulness Paintings
A mandala is an abstract geometric design that often represents positive attributes like compassion, harmony, calming, and promotes focused attention, creative self-expression and self-discovery. They have been used for centuries in spiritual and personal healing practices. They are said to remove stress, promote present moment mindfulness and and improve concentration. Many use it as a form of meditation practice. Each artist will create a unique mandala. Step by step instructions, techniques and guidance will be given in this 2-1/2-3 hour class.


As a meditation teacher for over 23 years I'd love to add a meditation and intention-setting portion in the class for your group.


Pastels Experience working with different surfaces, using pastel pencils, pastel chalk, and blending tools to refine the image you choose. Working in multiple layers to create depth and vibrance.

Watercolors

Deconstruct the mystery of watercolor painting in this lesson geared toward building several techniques that you can put into your own toolbox for creating your personal masterpiece.

Acrylics

Learn several techniques for blending, one of the most challenging aspects of acrylic painting made easy. Bring your own image reference to paint, or choose from an array of great ideas.

Mandalas

Each mandala will be created from scratch using techniques I have developed for utmost creativity. Color, shape, and design will be utilized. No prior drawing experience required.

2-Hour Class Fee: (includes art supplies, gratuities welcome)

1 participant:  $135

2-4 participants:  $108/person

5 - 8 participants: $95/person,
9 or more participants: $88/person

(additional discount for Veterans or PTSD groups)

About the class

Kathy, Your Instructor

Kathy has been a fine artist since she was in her teens. She became a full time graphic designer while still pursuing fine art on the side. Her experience in art is vast and she uses multiple ways to teach and inspire her students. She encourages individuality and authenticity in her students as well as playful exploration. Talent is always a plus, however she feels anyone can be a great artist with practice, the right tools, and the desire to keep learning. Even if you have never drawn before she can show you several tips to make your painting or drawing look professionally done.

Policies

Each individual class session will focus on one medium (pastels, acrylics or watercolors) only. Payment: a 65% deposit will be charged on the card of your choice prior to class. Balance will be charged on your card in person after the end of the session. Cancelations made less than 72 hours in advance will forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made prior to 72 hours will receive a refund minus the credit card fee. Additional guests can be added last minute - please text me in advance so I can prepare proper materials for your guests.
